Horrifying

As a little exercise in the whole cut and paste woman, I printed out lots of pictures of different women considered beautiful and cut and pasted them together. Since they were all different sizes this looks really funny and also pretty horrifying - this is the kind of thing I'm going for though since the point is because the woman is a mish mash of other women she no longer looks natural. I would really have liked to have done this bigger but alas I was low on cash so could only do what I could with my remaining print credit.

Hot Dog Books

My hot-dog books just outlined a couple of ideas I had that link to my essay but are also not just a direct translastion of my essay into images.

1. Art
This one is based on the fact that classical nude paintings are somewhat akin to modern images in lads mags, so it displays photos of girls from magazines such as zoo in picture frames as if displayed in an art gallery. (I did these as really quick collages just to get the idea across) -

2. Lads Mag: classsic Edition
I based this off the same idea but reversing the roles, putting the subjects of classical painting into the modern setting of a lads magazine. I think this could be interesting to develop into something better than this. The idea linked to an observation that women in classical paintings look out to the viewer like women in lads magazines, so I thought I would make it just that. I kind of like the juxtaposition of this classical art-work among flashy modern stuff, I think it'd be striking for sure.

3. your own personal venus
This was an idea to have an alternative activity book based around making an ideal woman - mostly containing outlines of classical paintings or women which the viewer would have to fill in. I think this is quite fun because it's more interactive and would probably engage an audience more.

4. Catalog of features.
Each page portrays a perfect feature, and the last page would have them all combined but the woman it makes would be an abomination. Linking to the fact that the ideal woman is made up of several different people's body parts, and is not just one woman which is why women in paintings and magazines look a bit weird. This idea could go further.
